I have some VHS tapes that I want to edit and place on DVDs to view on a TV. I know that its possible to play the tapes on a VHS player through a TV and record them on a DVD recorder with the end result being a DVD disc.
However, reading the forums I thought that they suggested capturing the VHS tape content to a computer and then use editing software prior to creating a DVD disc.
I have managed to workout how to get the ATI software on my computer to capture the content of a VHS tape by connecting the VHS player to my computer.
However, I can't work out how to get Pinnacle to acept the ATI file.
Should I have tried to get Pinnacle to capture the content of the VHS tape directly and is that even possible?

what file format did you capture with? did you use a format Pinnacle can recognize, or did you capture to ATI's defualt, useless-only-to-itself format?

I'm afraid that I don't know what format I capturered with.
To capture the VHS file I opened the ATI Multi Media Centre Launch Centre and then clicked on the ATI Launch Pad. I then clicked on the TV box. The end result was a file that had a title "Friday" that I gave it. This is followed by "007.vcr ATI File Player 3,556, 922 KB

Try www.digitalfaq.com , step by step instructions for capturing with a ATI.

yeah, it's that ".vcr" file format that is your problem... you need to capture to a 'real' format that other software can use, like ".mpg" for example.
