    Hi there.

Forgive my ignorance, but why do some DVD recorders have hard drives? Is this for editing purposes or is it for recording shows like a DVR? Maybe both?

I'm looking for a DVD recorder where I can make my own chapters at any place in the recording that I want.

My current crap-o-la DVD recorder only does designated chapter points such as every 5, 10, or 30 minutes or none at all. I know it sux.

Also, is it common for DVD recorders to have crapy video quality when setting it to the mode to record for more than 2 hours? I heard somebody say recently that they were able to record for 6 hours and the pic is clear. If the former is true, how am I supposed to get a 6-hour VHS tape onto a single disc without using something like DVD shrink. I want to try and use my PC as little as possible when it comes to DVD editing because I plainly and simply fail every f-ing time I try.

    Thanks for your feedback,
