There are a few special purpose Windows encoders out there that will produce Xvid files for the Palm. Is there anything for the mac?
Will ffmpegX work, or is that just for iPod?

As long as you dont encode to specifications that max out your Palm's processor for video playback, any form of H.263, H.264 (MPEG4) or MPEG1 will work. I tend to prefer MPEG1 for my Palm LifeDrive. Its notorious lag time seems to kick in less with MPEG1 video.
Whenever I've tried H.263 and H.264, I've made them with MPEG Streamclip.
