I'm looking to convert a 250mb rmvb video to avi. I also have a srt subtitle file I want to merge into the video. What would be good and easy program to use to convert this video. I want to keep as much quality as I can and was hoping it wouldn't take no more than 3 hours for it.

I have a athlon xp 2500+ overlock to 2.2.ghz with 1gig of ram.

I have yet to find a 'Good and Easy' program to convert RMVB to much of anything. SUPER is easy, but not that great for quality. Try a all forum search for 'rmvb to avi' and you should get a couple of hundred hits. I've also tried River Past Video Cleaner and the older EO Video converter.

The 'VB' (Variable Bitrate) part of RMVB makes it even more difficult. TMPGEnc encoder may be the best, but maybe not so easy. Once you get it to a AVI type format like Xvid or similar, not that hard to put a subtitle file in the same folder to play it with most software players. But you may have a bit of a problem getting the subtitles to sync. Look to our Subtitle Forum for help with that.

I personally dislike proprietary formats like RM and WMV that limit your choices for easy conversion.
