I have an Akai DV-PS 760 that I purchased about two years ago. I was trying to find my owners manual to check recording compatibility for a new DVD Recorder that I recently purchased. I wanted to know which formats (ie DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, etc) were supported on the DV-PS 760. I couldn't find my original Akai owners manual, but after searching online, I found information on compatible formats and a procedure to check the firmware level. My firmware is BA11, so I would like information on how to upgrade my firmware (if possible) so that I have maximum compatibility for the new Recorder.

While in the Setup menus, I inadvertently changed the video format to 480p (from 480i), and now I cannot view anything on my TV monitor. I guess my TV monitor (a Maxent 31 inch LCD) doesn't support 480p. I wanted to re-enter the Setup menus to go back and reset the video setting to 480i, but since there is now no output to the TV display, I cannot reset the setting.

Can anyone “walk” me through the Setup menu so that I can go back to the video submenu and change the video setting? Since I did this on my first use of the Setup menu, I cannot remember the order in which the menu items were displayed. I also cannot remember the different choices on the various submenus. I recall a submenu for Audio, Video, and perhaps four others, but I do not remember what order the submenus were in, and I cannot recall enough about the submenu choices to reset the display output.

I'm not sure if the original owners manual contained this information, but I was hoping someone could post or e-mail an electronic version of the manual for the Akai DV-PS 760, or provide me with sufficient instructions to again access the video submenu so that I can reset my output on the DVD.

    Thanks for your help

  2. You could try connecting the Akai to the TV with a non progressive ouput, like composite or s-video, and check if you see something then.

Other option is unplugging the power cord, and leave it out for a few days, hoping that the Akai returns to default settings.

    Hope it helps
