  1. I tried to encode almost 30times several avi files with CCE and either Virtualdub or Premiere as frameserver. I used almost all the possible settings but usually the ones from vcdhelp.
But my mpeg file doesn't play fine. It stops sometimes and then the sound gets lower or faster.
Even when I used the settings VBR from Tmpeg 20-300-2400 the result is the same.
I find it strange that when I look at my mpeg file in 'bitrate viewer" that there are peaks of 2950brate, when my settings are 2400 max.
The sound was encoded by toolame or Tmpeg itselve = same result.
The quality of the image is fine (when it doesn't stop). I mux with BBmpeg with standard muxrate or o (automatic) mux rate.
    The avi file is excellent.
    WHAT IS WRONG?

  2. I've forgotten to tell that the mpeg files play well on my PC (power dvd), but once the're burned (nero) the problems start.

  3. Could it have something to do with the Divx codex? Seems strange because the file plays fine on my PC.

  4. Hi,

Where are you play off the PC ? On a DVD Player ? What brand ?
May be the DVD Player coudn't support the 2950 peaks.

  5. I burned it with nero and played it on a Philips 751 dvd player.

  6. Hum... could be the CD-R/W media.
To check if the player doesn't support the 2950 bps, try to encode a small part of the video with multipass and test, the multipass keeps the max bitrate closer to the setted.

  8. I don't know whatelse
Did you ever tried the samples in the What Is section http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd.htm ?

If it don't work either, it's the media.

  9. I encoded lots of files with Tmpeg but because it's so slow I wanted something faster. In the past everything worked fine so this has to work to and I think I am overlooking something, but what?

  10. I use to use the same method with Divx files, VDub frameserving to CCE, and always works fine.

I have no more ideas, could you post the BBmpeg's log ?

    Hi,
the Phillipps-DVD-Player doesn't accept bitrates more than 2600 for video and audio together. So, if you encode audio with 224, there's left 2376 for video. If combined bitrate is higher than 2600, the Phillips makes nonsense. Hope this helps, concerning CCE, I dont't know how to tell it not to encode with more than 2600.
    regards
    grommi
