    How good its the aften ac3 encoder when it comes to compatibility compliance? I know that the other free encoders (besweet and ffmpeg) have some issues.

    The issue with ffmpeg is years old, as far as I know there are no current compatibility problems.

    BeSweet uses the encoder from ffmpeg, just an old version.

    Aften is based on the ffmpeg encoder. Not sure if any changes have been ported back though.
