  1. Hello... ...In a sort of video compilation that I have
    (is a dvd video) I wanna put fade effects in the begin and the end of every video clip.

    I need make this with freeware tools.I use GUI for dvd author,so in the reauthor
    I shouldn't have problems,I guess.

    So I converted the dvd in a mpeg-2 video file.
    (demuxing with rejig and muxing to MPEG-2 with ImagoMPEG-Muxer).

    Later I tried of import the MPEG-2 file with DVD slideshow GUI,

    but the tool can't read the file.

    I tried with simply mpeg files and I tried converting mpeg/mpeg-2 to avi with SUPER,
    and can't import with DVD slideshow GUI.

    tell that always can be tricky use DVD slideshow GUI.

    Someone can tell me please ,how can I get to import a MPEG-2 or MPEG in a DVD slideshow GUI...?
    or at least about of another freeware tool that can help in make fade effects in a dvd.

    Thanks in advance

    You can't do it without re-encoding, so it is something ideally done before you encode to mpeg 2. Repeated encoding of mpeg 2 material is just asking for poor quality video.

    I suspect that you cannot import an mpeg into DVD Slideshow GUI, as it is, as it's name suggests, for creating slideshows. These are usually created from stills, not video.

    Depending on your source, you can probably do fades with WAX2, and you can certainly do them on pretty much any video using avisynth - it even has a Fade command.

    Womble MPEG-VCR has some "special effects" for transitions that would probably do that. It doesn't seem to re-encode unnecessarily, so it should not degrade the rest of the video. It's not free though.

    Reading some tutorials of avisynth...I found this code:
    v4=m2vsource("d:\cap\cap.mpg")
    c1=Trim(v4,4836,8463).Reverse.FadeOut(100).Reverse .FadeOut(100)

    like you tell have fade instructions...please, my friend, a question :
    "cap.mpg" can be a MPEG-2 file? I can work with MPEG-2 files with avisynth?
    (sorry for that questions,maybe is something so obvious,but I'm very very newbie)
