On YouTube they allow you 100mb of video to upload...I can only get that to equal to about 90 seconds. If I change the format to allow for more time based on 100mb, the video clip gets poor in quality. I've seen videos on YouTube that are 11 minutes long and are very clear.
Does anybody know what video fortmat one needs to use, in order for the videos to be over 8 minutes long and be of good quality? I've tried every format but the best I can do is less than 3 minutes but the video looks hazy.
Any suggestions?

320x240 mpeg-4 (divx, xvid) can accomodate much more than 10min in 100MB file.
So: recode your file first before uploading to youtube. -
I've tried it, it works but when I use Roxio software to edit the video clips, the MB go right back up. So when I convert the video from .MOV to XVID, the MB are about 75% less but when I use that video to edit with Roxio, I get about 65% of the MB space back. Is there a way around this?

You should do your editing with your native video format if possible. If you have problems editing in MOV format, perhaps convert it to DV as it is 'made' for editing. Xvid is probably one of the worst codecs to edit in.
DV has every frame as a keyframe, while Xvid has every 300 frames as a keyframe by default, so frame accurate editing is difficult without re-encoding and further quality loss. When you are done with all edits, then that's the time to convert to a highly compressed format like Xvid. -
