I have TI v9 and im having trouble using it, Ive posted my question on the TI board with over 100 views and only 1 person replied and they coulnt help so here is my only other option.

I tried to do my first restore yesterday but something when wrong. I have backedup up my entire C drive onto 7 cd-r's and wanted to restore the whole thing.

I got to this window and clicked on the C drive (I wasnt sure which one the click on)

but when I clicked reboot at the end I got a message saying:

E000101F4: Failed to write data on the disk
Failed to write sector 0 of the hard disk 1

On the other board I got told to click next to Disk 1 to pick both c: and the MBR but I got the same message at the end.

I made another backup a few months before this one and tried those disks but I just get the same thing.

    what have I done wrong?

I think what Krispy Kritter is asking ... are you running it from inside window's or not .

I use drive image from pure dos at bootup from cd ... os is non-active ... no problems with multiple disc's .

Man , these people with "blue screen of death" minidumps have just got to stop bugging me for a while ... xp is giving me the ...

Anyway ... from acronis true image .

Q: Do I need to reboot the computer in order to restore the system partition of my hard disk drive?

    A: Yes, you do.

Windows does not allow you to run an application while this application completely rewrites the partition where Windows is installed.

Therefore, Acronis True Image 10 Home will prompt you to reboot the computer into its standalone version to restore the system partition. Once the partition has been restored, you will be able to boot Windows in the usual way.

    -----------------

Yes , as I though , it aint that smart ... it must be run from outside the os control ... from bootup .
It cant do nothing while xp is up and running .

You'll need to dig through the program's options to locate the "reboot and reload pc" option ... or maybe it has a way of generating the required startup disc with the required startup system file's it need's in order to carry out the task from system bootup .

    ==========

With mine , drive image create's 2 floppies to boot pc with .

Using imgburn , I load the win98se boot image file (it's available online)
Create 2 folder's , and dump each floppies content into them , add to imgburn's compilation .
Add a folder as well called install ... for partition commander .
Add another folder called dostool , and drop memtest , delpart , fdisk , format here .

Burn to cd , and it's ready to work .

Depending how the backup image was split ... I even include the first backup os image as well to this disc ... save's a little time .

As Bjs pointed out, and what I failed to say earlier, was that most restores, especially when the OS is involved, must be done from a boot disk, not from within Windows. Regular data restores or whatever, should work just fine from within Windows, but you can't restore/overwrite the OS when you are running from the OS.
