I just wanted to post some information somewhere on VideoHelp due to the lac of information on this recorder on the Internet. I must have lost my account a long time ago with my old email address. I wanted to post in a thread that would get more recognition and more appropriate but according to VideoHelp I'm a Noob Lamer cause I got to wait a day. I can't wait a day cause I want everything now just like everyone else. Back on subject...

DRC8052N... DRC8052NC really is at Walmart is around $95. There are 3 models of this recorder around. DRC8052N breaks after a day. DRC8052N D and C (I think) are supposed to be functional out of the box. Anyone having issues with D and C versions should upgrade the firmware from RCA's website. There is a fix for resume recording after pause.

HDMI upscale up to 1080p. I noticed a measurable difference in quality moving from component, allowing my TV to auto upscale to 1080p. I initially thought any quality upscaling was a hoax.

Chipset inside found are...
Zoran ZR35100PQCG Activa 100
Zoran R36750BGC-V Activa 150

I didn't find too much info on these chips on the net. Curious if similar recorder models are built on these exact chips.

DVDR Drive is standard IDE on a semi exposed mount.
I assume it is a brand name of "Loader" and the model is "BBR-L08" from the writing on the drive. I assume it is ATAPI compliant and only speaks on that level to drive connected. Has digital and analog audio outputs, standard power cable, and looks like some jumper prongs with no jumpers set. Curious if anyone has put a HDD in it just for kicks.

Anyone with more information on the recorder please post here there or anywhere. I am specifically looking to obtain firmware or remote codes to unlock or hack the region. Any other fun or useful information on the device would be cool too!

You ROCK!!! :P
