Hi
I am trying to put Ulead cool 3D text into a Ulead Video studio project. I cannot seem to get rid of the flicker in the graphics. The graphics play smoothly until I save the whole project as the original footage settings.
In cool 3D I have tried saving as frame based, field order A and field order B with no success.
Original footage
Microsoft AVI – open DML
25fps
Date rate 3515.63
Compression DV Encoder – type 1
24 bit 720x576 16:9
Lower field
Cool 3D
Microsoft AVI – open DML
25fps
Date rate 3515.63
Compression DV Encoder – type 1
24 bit 720x576 16:9
I have tried Frame Based, Field order A and field order B
I would very much appreciate some guidance.

I have already tried that site, with no luck. Thanks for replying.
If anyone has the answer, please post.
Thanks. -
I've gotten the best results outputting as frame based from Cool 3-D regardless of what the video editor settings were...
Can you select the video source type in VS for imported footage? If so make sure sure that it's frame based or whatever it is you're importing. In media Studio Pro you right clicck the clip and it allows you to select what the imported clip is.
BTW do the graphics have a lot of very narrow lines? Applying a slight blur may help. Upload a sample if you can. -
Yes I can select import video source and yes I have selected frame based.
Here is the odd thing; the clip properties state it is an AVI file. However Ulead 10 asks “Do you wish to change the project settings to the clip settings”. If I select yes, for some reason it changes the project settings to an Mpeg format.
Either way, changing the settings to AVI or Mpeg I still get the flickering and the object is also slightly “jumpy”. No narrow lines by the way.
I sense the error is in the Cool 3D save settings, I have just about tried every conceivable saving option and I think I am missing something fundamental here.
One question, why when I select DV Encoder Compression it blanks out the option to change data rate?
Thanks for replying “thecoalman” -
Just so we are on the same page you should be outputting your video from Cool 3-D as frame based. Instead of DV under the compression tab try uncompressed. This may or may not help but it's what I use and it always comes out well for the final output from my editor. Play this file to see that it looks good.
VS will be set up for whatever your output is, just to make sure set the output to whatever your main source is, if it's DV foorage then set it to DV. Import the clip from Cool 3-D and make sure you have indicated that it's frame based, do not change the output settings.
The other question I should have asked is where is it flickering, on your computer or just on the TV? The file from Cool 3-D or after you output from VS? On a final note I'm assuming that everthing you are creating in Cool 3-D is original and doesn't contain any video?
Upload a sample of both clips the one from cool 3-d and the final one from VS, use a very short version because the uncompressed clip is going to be enormous. Even 2 or 3 seconds is sufficient as long as it exhibits the problem you describe. it may also help if you upload your cool-3-d project file, I'll try it to see what I get. Having a sample of anything you can give would help a lot...
