  1. Anybody else get a bad batch? I think I hit the bad batch lotto! I have 3 50 piece spindles of PRODISC R-03 8x white inkjet printable. I had never had any problems with these but I tried some that I got a few months ago and I can't get one to burn (shows up as if nothing is burned on it). I tried my one of my Verbatims and they are fine so I know it is not the burner\program.

It's your burner not liking the discs, easy as that. Not the discs.

Check that you burner has the latest available firmware. If it doesn't have proper write strategies for these disks, it appears that the default isn't inadequate.

If you can't get firmware which has a write stategy for these disks, throw away the disks or the burner - probably equal in value.

  6. Thanks for the help. Confirmed it is not the discs. I have two identical BENQ 1655's (same firmware each - lets call them "E" & "F") and these discs burn fine on my other drive (F). I thought at first that this drive (E) was going bad but I just burned a few Verbatim 16x DVD+R's and they are fine.

So either that particular drive (E) is not liking the discs for some odd reason or it is going bad just enough to not be able to burn so-so media??

  7. Ok, I just burned another Prodisc in my drive "E" and it came out fine this time, the only difference was that I burned this one at 4x instead of 8x

You may want to try QSuite and enable SolidBurn on drive "E."

  9. I have checked the QSUITE on drive E and solid burn now lists the Prodisc R-03 (must have put it in there after my 4x burn because it was not in there prior). I have it activated for unknown discs but it is not activated for supported discs (that is the default) should I change it?

I just find it odd that two supposed to be identical drives treat the media different, guess there are some variances.

Odd. If R03 is in the list but SolidBurn is not activated for known discs, that means Drive E is treating the MID as unknown, and it shouldn't. ProdiscR03 should be supported in the firmware.

  11. Should I activate Solidburn for both supported and unknown discs on that drive?
