Thus far, no documented support for HD-DVD or BluRay discs is apparent in the new player
-
Most likely to be fixed with OS X 10.5.5 at the same
time Apple introduces Blu-Ray Drives from Pio
in the next rev of the Mac Pro's....
Gotta remember, support won't happen until
the Drives get low enough ( sub $300) for Apple
to stick them in the machines. We had the ability
to burn DVDs ( at a $1k price tag for an external burner)
WAAAY before Apple introduced the first "consumer robust"
version of iLife.
convergence will happen...just gotta wait for the prices to drop...
if Matushita made an under $200 consumer internal BluRay
device for Personal Computing, say in the next 3-6 months,
Apple would snap them up for the
next Mac Pros...but how many of us would want those POS?
