When previewing video for capturing my audio seems to digitize horribly. But when captured and played back it sounds fine. This is all when using Song Vegas 6.0 - also - when I preview video in Roxio Video Capture the audio is fine. SO - why does it digitize in Vegas 6.0 when preveiwing????

I have a JVC DV GR-DX77U camera running a cable 4 to 6 pin into a Firewire port.

    And help is welcome. Thanks.

The preview in Vegas scales based on user settings, filters being applied, and the power of your PC. Check the Preview setting above the Preview window and try different variations until you get a clearer image. Remember that the larger and higher quality the preview, the slower it will play back.

Thanks guns1inger. I was hoping this wasn't the case and it was purely that I hadn't done "X" (X being a common and easily fixable mistake). I will fiddle with it and see what happens.

For any with the same problem - I went to the "view" tab in the capture video screen and changed it to where the viewing screen was the orginal size and not a larger form and the digitizing ceased. Thanks.

avi is just a container. The video and audio are compressed using codecs and stored in the avi container. because of this, just saying avi is meaningless. Use G-spot or avicodec to determine how the video and audio are compressed. At a guess, your audio is either compressed using a codec you don't currently have on your system, or it is VBR MP3, which Vegas does not like. Vegas is designed for working in pro-sumer and professional environments, and as such isn't really built for handling downloaded material. DV-avi and avi files using pro-level codecs will work. Divx/Xvid/VBR MP and other assorted internet type formats are a lot more hit and miss.
