I need help choosing a 18x internal DVD burner for my quiet PC.
These are what I want:
- quiet
- reliable (low error rate, less chance of creating a coaster)
- performance (speed)
- compatibility with different media
- region-free or exists a region-free firmware for it
- inexpensive
- preferrably brand name
Any recommendation for a model or brand in general?
Thanks.

The LG-H10N drives are quiet and can be crosslfashed to the H12N firmware then it will be able to burn dvd discs at 18x speed.
LITEON has 18x and 20x dvd burners. I have the LITEON 18x dvd burner that sounds like a airplane taking off. I've read on the LITEON forum that some 18x drives are noisy and others aren't. I think it's the luck of the draw but I bought my drive for $30.00 bucks and crossflashed it to the BENQ 1800 drive.
I'd recommend a BENQ 1800 but it's not going to released in the USA. -

Get the LG if you want a quiet drive.
