Just purchased a 50 pack, did 3 backups.
All dics froze at the same point when playing.
Ran nero dics test with following resuls, all tested bad in same spot
Had to take them all back, and exchanged them for Verbatim
    I will never stray again

    No surprise.

I've had trouble with these D-2100 media code discs. https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=317851

The SD16s or whatever were very good. No problems with those.

Sony CDs are excellent for music and data. Crap for Mpeg 2 video. I created a few MiniDVDs with them and all of them had problems.

since you can't tell Media Codes by its packaging,
    stick with Verbatim.

My Lite-On/Sony DRU800a burns Sony and Verbatium 16x media about the same.

Both are bad at 16x and excellent at 8x.

If it was 16x media try using 8x.

It's pretty easy to tell Sony codes (for the US/Canada markets) by the packaging. Sony 16x DVD-R made in Taiwan = SONY16D1, made in Japan with round white spacer = SONY16D1, white octogonal spacer = TYG03. All Sony 16x DVD+R = SONYD21.

Sony is excellent media. The problem lies elsewhere, by all fair odds. Figure it out, don't blame the disc (since it is a known-good disc).

  15. If you open a brand new pack of Sony Media, and see rings of color on the disc caused by coating failure. It has to be the Sony problem.
