  1. Just got a new phone (Samsung) and new service (Cingular). The new company has some ringtones but none I like. I see there are a lot of sites with free tones. I would think they just want your number in exchange for the free tones (wallpaper), so they can sell off your number to solicitors.

What about these free uploading programs? Anybody had any luck with them?
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  2. Just use a cable to connect it to your PC (it should be recognised as a drive) or if the phone takes a data card get a card and a card reader to copy files across.

  3. It would seem my Phone is not that advanced. Only connection areas are, a ear port and the charger port.

I've come across some interesing web pages on the subject. I give it a go then report back after.

This is what I had hoped but it doesn't - recognized as a modem... Went looking for software for transfering files and no luck... (Has anyone else found anything??)

There are a few web pages (like http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/) where you can upload your file to them and they will give a link you can enter in your phone. The link says Sprint but it works for other providers (I'm with Bell in Canada). This may help...

my Samsung has the same connection for charger/headphones/USB though I'd connect my old Nokia via the connection under the battery

what model is your Samsung? surely if it's less than a few years old then you will be able to buy a simple lead from ebay to connect it to your PC

You could probably connect the phone via bluetooth.

just buy a Bluetooth dongle if your PC hasn't got one seeing as your phone is Bluetooth capable. I bought one of eBay for £5 and it works just fine and I've already used most of my 1GB memory card for videos/music etc 8)

  10. It should just work, meaning I don't have to add some pay thing to my service?

feel free to give your number to these 'free' sites but don't be surprised if you get spammed with text messages in the future

very little in this world is truely 'free'

just put your model phone and the word bluetooth into an ebay search and you will soon find one (also add the word dongle if there are too many results)

Any way to xfer a custom ringtone from one cell phone to another ? (New phone, new cell provider; old ringtone was a particular offer from the prior cell provider.)
