I read on the Zune website that videos can be 320x240 (4:3) and 320x180 (16:9). 180 is not divisible by 16.

For the love of God, use hub/core labels on your Recordable Discs!

WMV follows it "loosely". Internally, it is still a variant of MPEG4 and uses block-based DCT, so it wants 2x,4x,8x,16x blocks. Externally, you can specify just about any number resolution for WMV (and for a few others), but it does screw up the resizing/motion-estimation/quantizing etc. It probably has to "make up" something to fill out, or "skip" something. It DOES make the decoder have to work harder (have tested this out).
However, M$ and Zune does what they want.
IIWY, I'd stick to good sizing options.
