first of all, excuse my english

q: which program is best for adding a (.srt) subtitle to a dvd, for the subtitle to look like (or something closer to) the subtitles on a original dvd (an easy-to-read font with the correct font size and vertical position, good rendering from text subs to bitmaps, etc) ?

I know there are about 3 guides out there about adding subs to dvd; so far, I tryed two dvd authoring programs, Mediachance DVD-lab Pro 1.53 and Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, but none of them seems to create subtitles like those that we see on the original dvd's. So i'm looking for a better font to use in dvd-lab, or a better dvdauthoring program that can create better subtitles.

DVD Lab Pro certainly does. You can alter the font and appearance as well.

I wouldn't know about those other programs, but DVD Architect will let you do anything you wish with subtitles.

My favorite font for subs is ANSI, Yellow, Bold, Size 18-20, Border/Shadow 1 Black.
It mirrors what SBS T.V Australia uses pretty well, and much better looking than your standard IDX/SUB style white font.
