  1. I'm hoping somebody can help me out as I'm stumped. I just can't figure out what to do.

I'm trying to add a subtitle to a DVD (which doesn't have any subtitles at all) and keep the menu, chapter points, etc. I want the DVD completely intact. It's an episodic DVD with 9 PGCs, where the first PGC is the 3 main episodes and every PGC after that are those same episodes individually and some extra episodes that's not included in the 1st PGC. I've looked through many guides and have not had any success.

I've tried demuxing the audio/video using DvdDecryptor and the audio turns up out of sync, or rather, the first episode on the DVD is in sync but every episode after that gets more and more out of sync. The audio that gets demuxed also doesn't include the extra episodes.

I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out with this.

I'm also not really sure if I posted this in the right area. This is the first time that I've ever posted on any forum.

  2. I've already tried it and have had no luck.

I should probably also mention that I tried demuxing the VOBs with ReJig (I tried demuxing the VTS_01_0.IFO with many programs) using file mode and that seems to be the only may for me to get an m2v and ac3 file that includes the main episodes and all the extras, and I tried muxing it all together with Muxman along with the Celltimes that I got from PGCedit and the whole thing came out completely out of order. The video wasn't even in order.

    I tried following these guides:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/217500-How-to-add-your-own-subtitle-to-DVD-%28keep-...u-multi-pgc%29

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/163978-How-To-Add-Subtitles-to-a-DVD-%28THE-COMPLET...RKING-GUIDE%29

Method 1 from that link you gave me almost works but the audio is not in sync. The first episode is in sync but for every episode after the audio starts sounding slightly too early more and more each episode. The chapter points from the menu almost work great but for some reason when I select the last episode only half of it plays.

Also VobBlanker produced a warning that read something along the lines of "The number of Cells is higher in the replacing title. Extending last cell".

  3. I tried the Remove Useless Stuff option from PgcEdit..... no luck.

Demuxing the main movie using the pgc setting with PgcDemux produces an out of sync audio. There are 9 Pgc's in total. Pgc 1 is the main movie, Pgc's 2-5 are just portions of the main movie scattered, and pgc's 6-9 are extras not included in the main movie.

When I add subtitles they also get out of sync like the audio. I have no idea what to do.

  4. It sounds to me like you have multiple VOB IDs. You can check in PGCDemux. After opening the IFO, tick 'by VOB ID' rather than the default 'by PGC'. Then check the 'A/V Delay'. My guess is that each new VOB ID has a delay, or perhaps for each VOB ID the audio doesn't extend all the way to the end of the video. Maybe there's some soundless stuff at the end of each episode.

Also, I don't guess that PGCs 2-5 have any size, but just reference the episodes in PGC 1. You can confirm (or disprove) that in VobBlanker.

So, how to solve the problem? Demux the various audios by VOB ID and then use DelayCut to remove the delays. If PGCDemux doesn't show any delays you'll have to play your out-of-synch copy to find out. Then when remuxing with Muxman, add in your fixed audios one-by-one, using the 'Add' button for the audio files. As for the subs, after reauthoring using Muxman, demux the audio and use that 'fixed' audio to do the timing for the subs.

However, some of what I've said is based on educated guesses and could be wrong. There's not quite enough information to go on yet. In addition, having a celltimes.txt mismatch sounds screwy to me. A VobBlanker picture showing the structure of this DVD would help.

  5. Thanks for your response, I'll try out what you told me and let you know.

In the meantime I thought maybe these two pictures might hopefully shed some light.

  6. You have to demux 5 different titles and create subs for 5 different titles, numbers 1, 6, 7, 8, and 9. I interpreted what you wrote to say you were trying to do the whole thing once, work on the entire VTS at once. And, of course, you can't do it that way. Maybe I just misread you. You don't demux the VOBs all at once, the way you tried to do using ReJig. You take each title, one at a time, and demux it to its own folder using PGCDemux. Then after adding in the subs and creating a bunch of little DVDs with Muxman, you replace each of the titles (ignoring numbers 2, 3, 4, and 5) separately in VobBlanker.

I should probably also mention that I tried demuxing the VOBs with ReJig (I tried demuxing the VTS_01_0.IFO with many programs) using file mode and that seems to be the only may for me to get an m2v and ac3 file that includes the main episodes and all the extras
Nope. Use the drop down box in PGCDemux to locate and demux the extras. Both guides to which you linked above are old and obsolete. Baldrick's guide is the most up-to-date. Follow his method 2.

  7. Thanks for your help, it works.

The structure is different when I demux by VobID. There are 15 vobid files as opposed to those 9 Pgc's I mentioned, and I don't even know where to begin on how to inject them into the original ifo with VobBlanker, let alone what to do with the multiple celltimes files.
Fortunately I got it to work by following your instructions and Baldrick's guide, and, demuxing by Single Cells instead, muxing separate dvds, then using VobBlanker to replace cells and it worked.

Earlier on when I said I was using Rejig... well I was just experimenting after many failed attemps with pgcdemux and pretty much because I don't know what I'm doing, clearly demuxing the vob files didn't work.

    Thanks again.
