    Hello All,

I have a question I can't quite come up with the answer to.
I have a Hewlett Packard Pavilion ze5385us laptop that I'd like to upgrade the CPU on. I am unsure if the motherboard will support an upgraded cpu. I've upgraded the optical drive to a dvd-rw nec 6750a and added another stick of ram now its up to 1024 megs pc2700. I just can't find any documentation on upgrading the processor to a 3+ghz intel processor. Any help comments are appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Unlikely unless they offer a similar model with a faster CPU. Check the HP site for CPU options.

Laptops can be very difficult to take apart. (And get back together. )

I replaced the DVD drive in my HP Z4101 and I only had one screw left over from the 30 or so I had to remove. Never did find where that went. This took several hours and without the detailed disassembly guide from the HP site, I would have destroyed it easily.

Yes I Agree I have taken this laptop down to the motherboard several times, I needed to add some artic silver to the cpu heatsink combo because this particular model is prone to overheating due to the P4 and poor airflow design. Also just to upgrade the optical drive requires almost an entire 'tear down' to get to it. It is a poorly designed (compaired to a dell) laptop for upgrading but neverless, It's still a good machine and running good but I'd really like to see about upgrading the cpu insted of buying a new one. Thanks again for your comments awating your progess.
