I have a Kodak easyshare camera, which came with a dock to put the camera on and transfer photos to the PC, but the problem is Kodak software is not good for my PC and causes lots of problems.
Does anyone know if there is sotware in Windows XP which will recognise a Kodak digital camera and download the photos from the camera, or is there a 3rd party software that will do the same job? I need to sell my stuff on ebay, but can't take any photos right now![]()

I went through that problem a few days ago. The freeware IrfanView ( http://www.irfanview.com/ ) will work for a download program and it also has quite a few features. But I still had to install a TWAIN driver from Kodak before any program would accept the camera. This was on a W2000 SP4 computer, though. I also needed to do batch conversions to reduce size for email use. IrfanView does that very well, with lots of options.
XP should recognize the camera on it's own with the camera/scanner wizard. If not, you may have the same TWAIN driver problem. I just DL'd the driver part of the Kodak software and didn't use any of the rest of it. This was with a Easyshare Z700 that didn't come with a dock, just the USB cable. Alternatively, pop out the SD card and use a card reader. That is a lot faster and easier. -
Hi Redwudz, that's a great reply. There is a socket for a USB cable on the camera itself so I might try connecting the camera straight to the computer, but I am sure I tried that before and nothing happened. I'll see if there is any way with the camera/scanner wizard before downloading the software and driver. Thanks for the help

Uninstall all the Kodak stuff and JUST install the dock drivers (not EasyShare Gallery software or updaters or anything else). That makes it so that the camera appears as a USB drive. Most programs can be told to watch for that drive and pull pictures if you want.
Personally, I use a dual-pane file manager program (Freecommander) at that point so I can put the pictures where I want them.
If you also install Irfanview and the Irfanview Shell Extension then you can do converts, thumbnail reviews, and rotates off of the right-click. -
