Using WinDVD Creater edit mode, I've split a long movie to make each half fit onto a 120min DVD-R disk, but when I move to "make movie" it seems to read both halfs and says the file is to large for the disk. I'm sure the answer is simple. Any idea's Thanx

What video file format is your movie in before and after you split it. Does it include a menu.

The movie is in Xvid, I don't believe the format changes when split. It does have a menu, it labels each of the scenes (from the storyline) as chapters, and they will preview seperately in the menu tab, yet to burn the movie the file is still reading- too large. The movie length= 3.15.16.00, the split is at 1.52.09.19. (~113min, and 82min), so each should fit on a 120min disk. I've messed w/video manager and I & O trimming listed under the help file, but no luck.

Here's a guide for SVCD you might get some ideas from. Click at the top of the page "printer friendly version" and print the guide...makes it easier to follow.

There is no such thing as a 120 minute disc. Ignore any foolish advertising crap written on the packaging.
There is a very simple rule when encoding. Size = Running Time x Bitrate. Use a bitrate calculator. Tell it what size your disc is, how long your movie is, and what type of audio you are using, and it will tell you what bitrate you should encode at. Put this into your encoder and your video will fit.
If your encoder does not allow you to adjust the bitrate, and cannot calculate it correctly itself (ie. keeps telling you it is too big) then you need to invest in a better encoder.Read my blog here.

Thanks for the info, I see I need to do alittle more research/homework.
