ok i used convertxtodvd to convert and xvid to dvd.....all went fine.I went to burn with nero and it said "DVD-Video Files Reallocation Failed" I read up on this and it said that it may be missing a file or something (why did convertxtodvd do this in the first place..why a corrupt conversion?).So i took the video files used ifoedit to make new ifo and bup files. After doing this the burn went fine.........but the dvd doesn't play in my dvd player.I tried on pc and it works fine but when i put it in my dvd player...does not work.Any help?

did you convert it to a format your player handles. xvid is usually pal 25fps. can your player handle it? convertx can change it to ntsc but you have to change it's default setting.

nero is probably the other problem, use something else to burn with. imgburn or copytodvd are both much better.

The only thing I have seen ConvertXToDVD choke on is a very few Xvid/Divx files with some sort of unusual VBR audio. Most VBR it can handle. You might want to check the Xvid with Gspot 2.60 and see if there is anything unusual about it, including VBR audio. But I don't know how that would cause a re-allocation failure. IFOEdit is also not perfectly DVD compliant with some of it's operations, so that may have not entirely fixed the problem.

And I would use ImgBurn instead of Nero to burn. It can handle VIDEO_TS folders by using the 'Build' function. I would trust it more than Nero for a DVD burn.

Finally, have you successfully burned DVDs with that burner and DVD media that play on your standalones? Otherwise, you may have a media problem. Again, that does not seem to relate to a reallocation failure.

no it's ntsc...but since we're on the subject i do need to convert another movie from pal to ntsc (was doin it as we speak) but i have to rip the dvd and all kinds of other things that are time consuming..i still have the xvid though so if i throw that in convertxtodvd what would i have to do to convert to ntsc.It seems convertxtodvd is more lazy friendly haha...and i'll download imgburn right now

change settings/tvformat to ntsc from automatic and all conversions will end up ntsc. it does a decent enough job on most pal to ntsc stuff.

are you using a recent version of convertx? i've done quite a few with it and never had a non-compliant dvd produced, but if i did i'd try running it through dvdshrink to rewrite the ifos.

yea was just checking the settings..that's cool..so it doesn't have any jerkyness to the video or anything?

it's usually quite watchable. wouldn't say no jerkiness, but that's going to happen even if you re-encode with cce, just a byproduct of changing framerate. at least the audio normally stays in sync and it's quite fast at it's job.

still the same problem .Finally found some time to try again. Was a totally different movie. This time i converted divx to dvd the same with convertxtodvd.I tried to load up in imgburn but couldn't find anywhere to load the vob files just an image file which i didn't have or the time to convert to so i loaded up in nero..this time i got no errors but when done same result....plays in computer but when i stick in dvd playe it says "dvd-video" like it reconizes it then sounds like it tries to play and stops.Anybody know what the problem could be?I know everyone is going to say use img burn (can somebody tell me how to burn the dvd if it's not an img?I saw the one guy said use the build feature butit seemed like this was just goin to convert the video files to an img which i'm guessin takes an hour or two) but i only have 2 blank dvd-r's left at the moment and don't want to waste anymore.I will def try in the future but wanna be certain that nero is the problem beacuse it has never given me trouble in the past

Imgburn burns images. I convert Video_TS folders to images with DVDAuthorGUI (it actually makes a call to mkisofs) and it does the conversion in 10-15 minutes.

If your player will play DVD+RW or DVD-RW, try burning it to one of these - you'll be able to determine if the problem is Nero or not - if it doesn't work with Nero, burn it with Imgburn and see if it will work that way. At least you can re-use the RW disks.

Use ImgBurn in "Build" mode and select the DVD writer as the output device instead of the hard disc. Then point ImgBurn to the parent directory of your project, the one that contains the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders. ImgBurn will burn those files/folders directly to the DVD. This is pretty much the only way I use ImgBurn.

    Guide here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1779

Also, creating an ISO image file with ImgBurn should only take a few (10 or so?) minutes. Not an hour or two. But I could be wrong on that, since I very rarely make ISO images.
