Good Quality dvd to divx rips????

Can any one tell me exactly how to make a perfect quality divx dvd rip like some of the ones i have downloaded they are about 700mb in size and have very sharp picture, everytime i have tried to make a divx rip they are terrible quality, lots of blockiness, i am looking for the same quality as the downloaded ones, so if any onecould tell me how to do this -what programes i should use and what settings it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
