This is unusual scenario:

I've ripped some DVD audio tracks using Mac the Ripper. But I noticed the the DVD audio file formats were in two different formats. DTS and PCM. I know that ffmepgX doesn't recognize DTS files. But the other other audio file choice was for PCM, so I extracted that file type. Still, ffmepgX would still not recognize the PCM format. I thought the ffmpegX did, in fact, read the PCM format.

Upon closer inspection, I looked on the DVD hard case, and the exact format printed on the back cover is "HD PCM". I'm not familiar with the HD PCM format. Does the "HD" stand for High Def? If so, is this the reason that ffmepegX will not recognize this format either, even though PCM is supposed to be an accepted format. Does ffmpehX only read basic PCM files, but not "HD PCM" files?

If you look at the screenshot, it shows the PCM file as "PCM". But on the DVD case, it is reffered to as a "HD PCM". I think the MTR and ffmpegX is confused because this may be a new emerging format (?).

Basically, I just want to rip my concert DVD's to mp3 so that I can play the audio on my ipod. I don't care about the video.

Anyone familiar with the "HD PCM" format. Is this a new emerging format? Any workaround solutions?

thanks,
