  1. Hi all,

I have a number of Bluray discs who;s only HD audio track is PCM. Im trying to convert the PCM track to DTS using eac3to. I extract the CPM truck using tsmuxer all ok. It produces a Wav file of about 4 gb's. I then use eac3to to convery this to DTS which also seems to complete ok. I end up with a DTS track of about 1.5 gb's in size. Problem is, when i mux the track into my MKV video stream using MKVmerge i only end up with stereo audio. Audio is fully in sycn which is great but no multichannel sound. Any one know why this is so? The Wav file outputted by tsmuxer only outputs in stereo also but i suspect this a PCM audio playback issue on computers(though i could be wrong).

Anyone have any ideas or have a better solution? I can rip the DD 5.1 track if i realy need to but really wanted at least DTS 1.5 MBit audio in my rips.

  2. If you want to get multichannel DTS from a stereo PCM then simple re-encoding can't do it, lol. You would have to edit PCM in an audio editor which may produce out of it multichannel file. Of course it would be a fake multichannel, which won't match the original signal separation and acoustic effect. The process is not click & done if you want to get quality result.

If you create a multichannel DTS from a stereo PCM there won't be almost not any benefit of reducing the file size. Have also in mind that DTS is a lossy format while PCM is lossless.

  3. All fixed. Problem was that my playback software settings ahd changed. Put it through Mplayer classic and all is good.

By the way the PCm wasnt stereo, it was 5.1 PCM. What bluray has 2 ch PCM? And in regards to DTS being lossy, yes im aware of that but its the highest quality you can to playback via a HTPC to date. PLus a 5.1 PCM track is about 4.5 gbs whilst a 5.1 DTS track is only 1.5 so it fits much better into a MKV rip.

  4. I have converted PCM to DTS using eac3to and want to remux to the original m2ts which contains PCM and Dolby (448kbps). I thought PCM to DTS is better than Dolby and want to replace the Dolby track in m2ts. Iam unable to find a suitable program to add the DTS track in place of Dolby to the m2ts file. Kindly help...
