You forgot to tell us what you already have. Cam? Capture Card? DVD recorder?
And explain better what you want, "creating my own videos" does not really help.
BTW, welcome to the forum!
Bem-vindo ao forum! -
Valeu cara =)
The thing is: I would like to know all sort ways of doing this.
If i have a video in AVI, MPEG format already in my computer, but I would like to edit them and only cut the pieces that I need. Adding/removing the music to the video as well. Or even making a DVD with this videos. How do I do this? Which tools I use, you know?
One thing I would also like to do is: extract from DVDs I have(concerts) some performances and compile the ones I want in one single DVD. Example: I like 3 musics from one dvd, 4 from another and I would like to join them into a single DVD for my self, or for a gift.
Does that help? =)
Thaks! -
To cut/join/edit avi files I recommend (everyone does
) VirtualDub.
For MPEG files I use Cuttermaran.
If you want to apply effects, fade in and out, color correction... you can still use VirtualDub (but it only saves in avi format). Other options are Adobe Premiere, Ulead, VideoReDo, Womble.
You can find more information on this softwares on the Tools list, on the left menu.
To rip DVDs I suggest DVD Decrypter. You can make an ISO of the disc, burn ISO files, extract just the main movie, just a especific title/chapter. Then you can use the parts you ripped to make your own DVD.
Get those software and play around with it.
If you have any clue just search the forum here to find answers. If you still can't find, post your problem and people will try to help. -
Thanks man! That was very helpful.
And what about extracting certain parts of a DVD? Is this a feature of VirtualDub as well,
or is it necessary to use another software? I think I should extract the DVD files to AVI, then edit/cut/join with VirtualDub and then convert it again to DVD format. Is that it? Is VirtualDub also capable of adding/editing/sync subtitles? ( Sorry for so many questions )
PS: Instead of DVD Decrypter try to use RipIt4Me to rip DVDs. I used to use it or also Dvd Shrink. RipIt4Me really exeeded my expectations. I was able to rip a DVD that failed DVD Shrink Analysys and another DVD that DVD Decrypter couldn't read some files. That was awesome! -
To extract certain parts you can set DVD Decrypter to split the files in chapter. Just choose IFO Mode and choose By Chapter on the IFO Mode Options. Then you can select each chapter you want.
After that you have MPEG2 files. You can demultiplex it (to use on Cuttermaran) and cut the files using that software. If you don't want to demultiplex (separate audio and video) you can use Mpg2Cut2, VideoReDo, Womble, and some others.
You can ad subtitles with VirtualDub, but you need a plugin for that. And you will be able to save only in avi format, unless you frameserve it to other software.
Every software you need you can get on the Tools section. -
what about dvd shrink?
all in one that way
I cut out certain songs i want using the Re Author section
then add them all together to make a compilation dvd
doesnt make menu's but it make compilation dvds very easily
then burns it for you -
when i use virtualdub in opening the first video file it warns me about an error ( VBR ) in audio stream what should I do ?
-
I don't think so because when I open the second movie which I want to join it to the first one it prompts me like this : the audio streams do not share common sampling rate .
tell me the soloution -

I would open both files on VirtualDub (or Nandub), go to File menu, then Save WAV.
After doing that you have two wav files. Encode both with the same bitrate and khz.
Open again the files on Nandub, select Video and check Direct Stream Copy (so the video is not reencoded). Select Audio and click MP3 VBR (you can use CBR audio too) and select the mp3 file you just created.
Go to File and then Save As AVI.
Done. Now you have two avi files with the same audio specs.
Just join them. On VirtualDub you open the first one, click File and select Append AVI Segment. Select the second one. It will be placed on the end of the first file (already openned).
Select Video and check Direct Stream Copy, do the same on Audio Menu.
Then File, Save As AVI, and you're done.
