I posted about how Nero 7 Recode would import my 6+gb main movie VOB showing only 8m20s as the total length of the movie. I updated Nero to the latest build...still shows 8m20s. I have no idea why. Nero Showtime plays the full length when playing the VOB.

I tried Videora iPod Converter, latest build. This tool has worked very well for me in the past, but every attempt I've made on this VOB results in the full length of the movie, but no audio...I have no idea why. Nero Showtime's on screen display shows no audio track at all in the mp4.

I've ripped the main movie from this DVD (a certain Disney/Pixar movie about vehicles) using DVD Decrypter, and I've tried a few different scenarios (video+5.1audio+2.0audio+subtitles; video+2.0audio; video+5.1audio), and each one results in no audio after going through Videora iPod Converter.

The console in ViC shows the video stream (#0) in the input section and output section before starting the actual encoding, but I don't see any mention of an audio track (should be #1 or #0.1???) in either section.

I've reinstalled the latest versions of iTunes and Quicktime, in case I was missing a codec...didn't help.

I tried using SUPER on the VOB, but its result also came through with no audio track (according to Showtime).

BTW...When I actually ran a job using Recode and the iPod AVC profile, the resulting mp4 DID have audio, but the video froze at 8m21s (as I described in my previoud post).

I used the AVC profiles in both ViC and SUPER, in case that helps anyone offer suggestions.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm at a total loss as to why this is not working.

It sounds like you have not ripped it correctly in order to remove the structure based copy protection. DVD Decrypter has not been updated in quote some time now, and cannot beat current copy protection on it's own.

I would strongly suggest you try ripping it again, this time using RipIt4Me. It is a front-end to DVD Decrypter. It starts by creating a map of the structure protection called a PSL file, that DVD Decrypter can read and use when ripping the disc. It then uses FixVTS to cleanup the mess that removing structure based protection often leaves behind, and finally loads the disc into DVD Shrink to confirm that the disc is in fact readable.

Thank you SO much for your reply. I tried again using RipIt4Me and FixVTS (in addition to DVD Decrypter and DVD shrink, which I already had), and it seems to have worked great. Recode saw the whole length of the movie, and it encoded to iPod AVC with no problems.

I guess this was a matter of DVD Decrypter not knowing how to deal with the newer copy protection, although it is odd that DVDDec gave no errors when ripping the dvd on its own.

    Thanks again!!!
