  1. When I burned some DVDs and CDs, I saw that the buffer ran out very quickly. I checked using the Nero Info Tool and it showed that DMA was off on the C-drive. My three other drives had it turned on.

    So, I can't remember how to turn the DMA on (I've done it before though). I use Windows XP. Can someone help me, please?

    Most times, you will have to uninstall the channel the drive is on and reboot. If that doesn't work, then a registry adjustment may be required.

  4. I uninstalled the channel, made a reboot and DMA is now on again.

    Just for your information, it's a 'feature' of Windows to reset the DMA mode to PIO if there are six consecutive failures at reading a disc. If you have lots of problems reading a disc and your drive slows down suddenly, then that is likely the problem. Unfortunately Windows does not reset it automatically. Just something you need to watch for.
