I don't use my Lexmark printer very often; this time I installed a new cartridge, tested it and printed a couple pages; now a month later it shows as full but the cyan ink is clogged even after cleaning. Darn thing cost about $30, and this ain't the first time its happened to me, just the first time with a brand new cart... aaarrgghh!

Any tricks for re-starting clogged cartridges?

Since Lexmark uses the head+ink tank type cartridge: You may get it to unclog using a mild solution of denatured alcohol - not rubbing alcohol, as it may rust the printhead.

Then do a cleaning until all colors show on the printed page.

Or, you can just repeat the cleaning process until it unclogs or runs dry.

One more reason that I lean towards Epson and Canon - permanent print heads

I had an Lexmark printer a few years ago and had the same problems. You can try cleaning the bottom of the cartridges with alcohol. It helped for me but usually for a short time then the problem will repeat itself. The way I finally fixed the problem was to buy a HP printer. (sorry) I've never had a cartridge plug on the HP and I really don't use it very much, when I do I use the black and white, draft settings. My ink will last over a year and once a year I use it to print about 100 fliers. When I need ink I do buy HP ink I figure as little as I use I'll spend a few extra bucks. I all for saving money but the recycled ink cartridges I've tried before did'nt work that well for me.
