    Current situation is as follows:

SVCD2DVD 2.1 works on Vista (RC2 & RTM) provided that you install .Net 1.1 and .Net SP1 for 1.1 (as before), AND that you either disable UAP (and those annoying popups every 2 mins!): http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1358/vista_uap_disable_enable_user_access_protection or run the program as administator (use right click on the exe)

SVCD2DVD 2.5 is the current development version based on .Net 2.0. With this version you will not need to install and .Net stuff on Vista. It is work in progress and will be released as soon as iron out a small issue.
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

  5. I did the disable thing. But mine was called "Disable UAC".

It installs fine, but I get this error:

I am having the same issue with Vista, SVCD2DVD and HDTV2DVD. I have reinstalled .net 1.1 and SP1 numerous times, I have disabled UAP and ran both programs as administrator. Nothing seems to work. Every time I start either application, i get the error that it can't find the proper runtime. I am open to any solutions for a fix. Heck, I even tried installing .net 3 that just came out.

There is no obvious runtime version on your vista build to run svcd2dvd. Can you unzip the attached to the SVCD2DVD folder and retry running the app?

    svcd2dvd.exe.config.zip

Great, I will try this when I get home. Out of curiosity, can I rename the file for HDTV2DVD and put it in the HDTV2DVD folder to make that work too? (I really only need the functionality of HDZTV2DVD, but will settle for SVCD2VD).

    Thanks Chrissyboy.

    ChrissyBoy,

I did what you mentioned and it does allow both programs to run, thank you. However, I am unable to "drag and drop" any files into the programs. This isn't such a big deal in SVCD2DVD since there is an "add asset" menu. However, in HDTV2DVD, there is no menu for this, and the only way to get assets loaded is via drag and drop.

    Any ideas?

Same problem as above... dropped the file into the install folder and ran again and still got the problem: ran prog as administrator and got -

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.1
    Build: 2.1.2474.30525

    Type: System.IO.FileLoadException

    Source: SVCD2DVD

Message: The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'AxInterop.CodeLock' does not match the assembly reference.

Now, I DID NOT disable UAP before running as I quite like the annoying popups because it is a line of defence against any malicious software and I'm not prepared to lose it right now.

So... does that mean waiting for v2.5?

I love this proggy and found it to be one that I really "can't live without" using it every day... please stop me having to regularly reboot to XP so's I can use it

BTW: Subtitle support... please, please and please!

You should still be ok... Did you install as administrator? i.e. run the msi as administrator?

    ChrissyBoy,

Any thoughts as to why I would be unable to drag and drop files into either program from within Vista? Without being able to drag and drop, HDTV2DVD is unusable.

Thanks. Btw, the file you posted works great getting these programs to load in Vista, thank you very much. I still have to run them both as administrator, which isn't a problem.
