i have a few project files (.veg) that i need to make into one movie (think one project for intro, one middle, one credits project)

is there anyway i can combine each project to make one project without rendering each into separate avi's?

Vegas 5 onwards supports nested projects. Just load your .veg file onto the timeline in place of the video files. You may find performance takes a hit, but otherwise it works very well.

    thanks for the info...

but i tried doing what you said, and when i dragged the .veg file from the explorer into the timeline, it worked great... however, when i tried to drag another .veg after the one i already put in the timeline, it simply replaced the one that was there. it wont let me add one after the other.

    am i missing something?
and i am using vegas 5.0.

    thanks

Check the manual for Nesting Projects. Perhaps it came in with version 6 instead.

I know about the nested projects feature but I just don't use it. Instead, I work on pieces of the project and then render them out in their own ideos. Later I put them together into one render project. The downside is that much more project planning is required and slight video and audio quality is lost (around 3%) when rerendering files.
    Programs I Frequently Use:
    Sony Vegas 7
    Autodesk 3ds Max 9
    Camtasia Studio 4

Don't know where you can up with the 3% from, but there are plenty of ways to do it without losing any quality. The number of lossless codecs available seems to be growing by the week.

I like using nested projects for common and frequently used items like credits and overlays that also may need a simple change like a name added or altered. It is simpler to do this in a project, then drop this into another project, than to lose time rendering intermediate files.
