I have previously encoded some video conent to x264-MKV
(Megui with default profile & constant quantizer "eighteen")

When I let VLC-player play the file, it takes forever (about 14 sec.) before the picture shows.
    Why is this?

I have encoded some other 264/MKV files before and they show almost instantly
    without delay (incl. sound)

Are you using the latest version of VLC, 8.6, I believe? I'm only guessing that VLC is having a problem locating the proper codecs.

Files suffer less from start-up lag now.
Maybe it had to do with very fragmented encodes.
I tried to move them around between harddisks.
    And htis seems to help.
