In order to repair & extract audio and video parts of HDTV 1080i NTSC files I downloaded ProjectX compiled with Java (ProjectX_090.4.00.zip), installed it without any problem BUT whenever I start ProjectX after some time it stops, actually works endlessly, I get the GUI but cannot use it.

I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Here it is the bat file (command line) - at the point "Loading AC3 frames..." ProjectX stops:

So you just click the icon on the desktop, right ?

Here's the EXE and .INI file for an earlier revision. Replace the applicable files with these two.

    projectx_v0.90.1.rar

It looks like Project X looks for .TTF fonts right as the GUI loads --- Tahoma.ttf and Times.ttf in the c:\windows\fonts folder . Maybe the problem is there ?

Right. Of course, after installing. Should I do something else?

    I don't know. There are Tahoma.ttf and Times.ttf in the c:\windows\fonts folder.

I replaced the files that you posted, thank you. But ProjectX still doesn't work. I deinstalled everything, installed again with your files, there was some slight "improvement" - seemed as the command line finished. I still couldn't switch to windows GUI, I tried to add TS files, it was succesfull but when I tried to extract the audio part ProjectX crashed.

Maybe I should try some earlier version? Which one would you recommend?

BTW I'd really like to get ProjectX to work because as I read in last few days ProjectX demux TS files without A/V desynch. I can extract AC3 5.1 audio with DGIndex, reencode to DVD compliant MPEG-2 with Canopus Procoder (as avs file or TS file) but DGIndex reports audio delay of almost 1 minute so I can expect A/V desynch after all - Procoder needs more than 10 hours to reencode 1 hour long HDTV TS files (1 pass) ... so it must be the solution to get DVD MPEG-2 in synch. It seems that the projectX should be the best solution for demuxing.

I like ProjectX very much, but you seem to be having some problems - (where? I don't know)

You can try my script which uses very good command line utilities to maintain A/V sync during demuxing.

    Instructions:

    1) Make sure you have lots of free disk space -3X the amount as your Transport Stream Files

    2) Unzip TFIX.zip

    3) Place a transport stream file into the same folder as the Tfix files
    * Give your transport stream a short file name, like FILE1.TS

    4) Double click on Run_Tfix.bat to process. It will demux the file, repair problems in the AC3, then it will mux to a test MPG file that you can play to ensure the sync is still good. If it is good, then use the .M2V and .AC3 files for processing.

Thank you very much for your help.

I did evertyting as you described. The Run_Rfix.bat made FILE2.m2v + FILE2.mpa BUT after some time I got the following error message:

    ++++++++++++++

    AC3Cutter.exe – Application error:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Clik OK to terminate the application.

    ++++++++++++++++++

    After that FILE.mpa was deleted.

I dowloaded few versions of AC3Cutter; when I run AC3Cutter I always get the same error message. Any suggestion?

Thank you very much in advance.

Yes, you can try two other AC3 fixer utilities

    DelayCut http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/tools/delaycut_1212_exe.zip

    Code:
    Delaycut -fixcrc -out "%~n1.ac3" bits0001.mpa
(Replace the Ac3Cutter line in the batch file with the DelayCut line)

    or, you can try Ac3Fix

    Code:
    ac3fix.exe bits0001.mpa "%~n1.ac3"

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Notice that Project X also started with problems when it tried to load the AC3. I wonder if something is strange with the audio track on that TS file. Can you check to make sure it is AC3? You can use MediaInfo or DGindex to find out.

Thank you very much for AC3 fixer utilities. I am sure that they will be very helpful.

For now I resolved A/V synch problem with VideoReDoPlus – QuickStream Fix. I fixed original TS file in this way, even when I multiplexed AC3 5.1 from fixed TS file with already converted video (to 720x480) the resulting MPG file was in synch.

It is AC3 5.1 audio for sure. First what I tried was to fix TF file using MPEG2repair. After that I used DGIndex to extract the audio and to get d2v file. AC3 file had the delay of 597 msec. I converted AVS file (with this d2v file) with Canopus Procoder 2. When I finally multiplexed m2v file and AC3 file MPG file was out of synch. I tried to synch manually video & audio in Womble MPEG video Wizard but it was impossible. So I concluded that AC3 file still had transport errors.

There is some problem with AC3 audio since I added new DVD writer. AC3 media player doesn’t work anymore, but DVDLabPro, WinDVD etc. work OK with AC3 files so I left this problem for now.

BTW I still didn’t convert all files – there are 3 files, total size is 18.5 GB. Two smaller files I converted and they are OK. I hope that the biggest one will be in synch also.

    Thank you very much again.
