I was told that as my DMR-E75V will play -R DVDs it will also play -RW although it will not record on -RW(or on -R) so I got some discs to try. It recognises the -R and shows the empty chapters using Direct Navigator so that looks like it will be OK when I come to record on it, but it does not recognise the (blank) -RW at all. Will it do so if I record something to it from my computer and / or new DVD Camcorder which I get on Christmas Day? Will it do so if the DVD is finalised (I didnt want to finalise a blank disc, rendering it unusable).
If I burn MPG2 on to a -RW (with either Cam or computer) will that play on the Recorder? And I presume it will need to be finalised first?
My new Cam's handbook says it can unfinalise 8cm discs (I think it is not not necessary for RAM discs). Can a computer also unfinalise -RW discs so they can be reused?
I expect it will be obvious I am very new to all this!
