I've backed up several movies without much trouble. I use a combination of Ripit4me, DVD Shrink, and now Imgburn. My question is: if after I've ripped the movie to my hard drive and I can play the vob or iso image without problem on my computer but the burned disc skips or freezes, the problem is likely a bad burn or disc, correct? I recently bought some Memorex discs and think this is when I noticed the problem.
Thanks

Memorex media is very bad. A few years ago before I knew better I bought some and got angry because 3 or 4 discs out of a pack of 25 were coasters. Take a look at

for more info. I stick to Verbatim, although I just bought some Taiyo Yuden DVD blanks by mail order and they seem as good as everyone claims. -
Bad media, most likely. On jman's link above, click on Blank Media Quality Guide. Get a utility that can retrieve the MID (media i.d.) of your discs, like DVDIdentifier, DVDInfo, etc. Then compare to the list, I'm betting what you have is 3rd-class media. Memorex is notorious for outsourcing crap media. BTW, I use Verbatims, they're fine. Good luck.
