  1. A colleague has given me an old laptop which would not boot and asked if I could retrieve some data from the hard drive. I have removed the hard drive and connected it to my desktop PC. It shows up as drive E but gives the error in the thread title when I try to access it.

Any Ideas on ways to retrieve data from this drive. I am currently trying a trial version of Easyrecovery Pro, still scanning.

Here's a big cart full of info.

The link is to Google's cache so save the info to your
hard drive before the link is gone!

It also mentions the utility that Mack mentioned.

A man walked into his son's room and said..."Son, that will cause blindness."
The boy said, "Dad, I'm over here."

  4. Thanks guys, I had downloaded pc inspector smart recovery but it only seems to allow recovery of media files. Just noticed that I really should have downloaded the file recovery version. Will give it a try.
