What's cheaper than Firestore? Laptop with capture card, anything else? Thanks!

Firestore works standalone so it takes on the role of controller. A laptop PC can do similar but you have all the laptop issues of single a internal drive. A PIII in a Shuttle case would work better. What you want in a PC is a PCI bus, two disk controllers and separate drive (from OS) for capture ideally. Firestore uses a micro controller rather than a full OS so is very efficient and reliable.

PS: Now that I think about it, the OS could be XP-Lite or Linux running off flash memory, freeing the drive for capture duties. Hmm ... beginning to resemble a Firestore now but not as pretty.
