Best way to import mini DV

I'm building a directors reel and bit newbie.
anyway, an editor working with sent me back footage on mini DV.
I'll have to import it to computer via a camcorder.
I have on my computer Final Cut Express HD as well as Quick Time Pro.
What is the easiest way to do this and what is procedure? thanks!

Hire someone who is qualified for the job.

Add to the job spec basic DV camcorder to computer capture skills (Mac experiece required).

If this is 24p, expect the candidate search to be long and sifting applicants will need some skillset as well.

PS: I am assuming you are being paid for your "skills". We aren't.

You just wanted to import mini-dv to your computer, right?
What could be easier than follow those four steps?

what four pages oliver?, I just see a 60 page manaul from that link. But also, what do folks think: FCP express or Quicktime pro for this?

good point ED: I do think at some point I would hire someone to organzie my clips and then author them for a DVD REEl -- so maybe I shouldn't even bother with it perhpas........

Hmm... I am new to tis forum and came to ask questions but I can tell you that the easiest thing to do is to put the tape in a Mini DV cam corder, attach it with fire wire, with the camera on "Play" open iMovie, click import and let it go. it will be transferred in 9 and a half minute clips theat you can edit in iMovie or use the clips in another program

thanksk Brue, sounds like nice fast down and dirty way to get material on computer.
funny, though, don't see imovie in my app folder, even though I upgraded to Tiger on my G5.

You'll either have to fish the iApps off your original install discs or buy a standalone copy of iLife.
