I'm trying to convert anime downloads (more than 50 GB worth, so I'm willing to put a lot of time into solving this) from ogm to DVD format and then burn them. I'm working from this guide: <https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=222005>
I isolated the subtitle stream with VDMOD effortlessly, so I can safely say this is an excellent guide (thanks dafreak) and anything that doesn't work is due most likely to my inexperience (I downloaded 50 GB before even looking for help on this, how inexperienced is that? :P).
The precise issue is that when I try using TMPGEnc it won't accept my video source. The file in question was renamed from ogm to avi as the guide said (if it matters, all of my ogms have 2 audio tracks in addition to a subtitle track, but only one video track). This did make it appear in the TMPGEnc search dialog, but when I tell it to open that file, it just says:
File "xxx.avi" can not open, or unsupported.
I got rid of all the punctuation symbols and retried this with other files and got identical results. And I browsed parts of this forum and the FAQ and found nothing relevant. One last thing, (again, no clue if it even matters) I use VLC for playing all of these files and when I rename ogms to avis they are classified as "VLC media files" instead of avis and the icon becomes a traffic cone. It's never hurt before but since the guide shows the video file with a WMP icon there's a slight chance it's relevant.

Does the AVIs/OGMs play with WMP if not it wont work with tmpgenc. You need to codecs so it will play in wmp.
Tried increase the directshow priority in tmpgenc ? www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems
Or try something else like ConvertXtoDVD, but i'm not sure if it supports ogm with subs though... -
I believe the latest versions of ConvertXToDVD will support OGM and subs. It's at least worth a try. I find ConvertX does a decent job of conversion from Xvid to DVD. (Your OGM video is likely a Xvid with Ogg audio)
Another option that has worked at times with TMPGEnc is to use VirtualDub Mod to frameserve the OGM video files to TMPGEnc encoder. That seems to work better than trying to open them with TMPGEnc. I encode just the video to MPEG-2. VD Mod can also extract out the Ogg audio, so you can convert that to a more usable format for DVD. I extract to WAV audio, then convert that to AC3 with ffmepeggui. Then when I author with TMPGEnc DVD Author, I use the TMPGEnc encoded MPEG-2 files and the AC3 audio.
But ConvertXToDVD would be a lot easier. -
1) installed AVIcodec, results:
Video: DivXNetworks Divx v5, Unsupported (but I have DivX installed)
Audio: Ogg Vorbis (mode 1), Unsupported
Neither directly matches anything in the codecs list on this site and I wasn't brave enough to guess.
2) Installed ConvertXtoDVD, it looks unbelievably easy (seriously, this is too good to be true) but due to the sheer number of features it has (that or because I've never burned a DVD before, lol) it'll be a few minutes before I can test it and make sure it works. -
For Ogg audio, try OGG DirectShow Filter / OggDS / OGM Codec
I'm not sure why you are having problems with the Divx codec. Maybe reinstall it? That might explain the problem with TMPGEnc.
But if ConvertXToDVD does what you want, it may be the simpler solution. -
Actually I did reinstall it while waiting for replies to my other topic. I haven't checked if it worked because it looks like convertXtoDVD is a much more practical option for me than TMPGEnc. So this topic's done.
