    Menu or no menu?

I'd say convert them first. You can always DVDShrink them later.

Divx2DVD (or its payware successor, ConvertX2DVD) is one of the faster and easier ones on the market, though movies usually take just over 2 GB.

I'd recommend against what you're doing, and just use 2 discs.

3 x 1 hr 25 minutes = 255 minutes. With only 192Kbps audio the video bitrate can be no more than 2200Kbps. Thats 352x240 or maybe stretching it for 352x480. You can probably go with the 352x480 if you has some black bars in the video since you won't loose many bits encoding them. A 2pass encode would be my choice with the quality and motion settings cranked up.

If you are planning on creating a dvd menu then you will need to use a lower bitrate than 2200. I'd go with no menu myself since I value quality over glamor. I can find the tracks without a menu and I can skip through chapters without a menu also.

Use a 2pass encode hopefully in Tmpgenc.

    Good luck.

Scorpion King, would using TMPGEnc be converting the .avi to an .mpeg ?

If so, do you recommend a free burner?

Converting AVIs, such as Divx or Xvid, to DVD specs I usually load my AVI up in VirtualDub or VirtualDubMOD and either add filters or resize or both, then frameserve that to Tmpgenc Mpeg2 Encoder. Tmpgenc can resize pretty well expecially Xpress 3.0 and 4.0, but I usually prefer to do my resizing in VDM.

The reason I mentioned Tmpgenc in my other post is because it is a high quality mpeg2 encoder that has the ability to give excellent results compared to many other encoders. It is my favorite and I use it alot.

    Good luck.
