    Hey All,

Today I noticed that a newly downloaded video file (.mpg) and all of my DVD's that I played last week will not play anymore. The video I downloaded is completely safe and virus free. To attempt to fix the problem I installed the new WMP10 software as well as the new Xvid and Divx Codecs.

When I open the file/disc in WMP9/10, I hear audio but can't see the video.

I did open up the .mpgs that wouldnt play in WMP9/10 in Media Player Classic and they play fine.

Any ideas on how I can fix this problem? Any other codecs I should download?

    Thanks!
    Mike

    Thanks!

Have you tried reinstall windvd?. It should then become the default mpeg2 decoder for windows media player.

You can check the default dvd mpeg2 decoder with Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility , http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=DE1491AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6...displaylang=en
