Just a note to tell of my brief experience with ZA Security Suity Suite ver.7 beta. This program uses an updated version of Zone's professional series firewall and a new antivirus scanner based on Kaspersky's version 6. I downloaded the suite yesterday afternoon and configured the firewall and antivirus/antispyware applications, then updated the databases. My experience with this program was not satisfactory, as boot time was nearly doubled from my old configuration (NOD32 (trial) av & Comodo free firewall), I had to manually turn off and back on my desktop the first several times I was prompted to reboot following the program and update downloads, and even following all available updates, I continued to get the red shield security warning that the antivirus program was out of date. The virus scan, programmed for highest sensitivity, took about 40 seconds longer than Kaspersky's own online virus scanner. Both the Kaspersky and Kaspersky-based ZA equivalent scanned slightly over 25,000 objects on a 5.7GB volume, and produced similar results. Using the anti-spyware scanner, I found four tracking cookies, each described as being a low level threat. A subsequent anti-spyware scan by the Trend Micro Online Spyware Scanner uncovered four additional cookies. While the ZA antispyware scanner was considerably faster, it's inability to find the additional items was disappointing. The new ZA firewall offered more configuration options than the free version, but both ZA firewalls repeatedly failed the Shields UP ! ping and ICMP tests- not good at all. I'm posting this so that others considering trying this beta software might choose to wait until the product is further refined. ZA's new Security Suite may well become the best single-source security application, but for now the investment in time, effort, and the necessity of uninstalling your current antivirus and firewall in order to accomodate the ZA suite are not justified. For the record, my computer is a Dell E510/Intel 940 dual core, 1 GB DDR2 PC4200 RAM, 160 GB Seagate HDD, integrated video & audio.

Thanks for your input. I am a current customer of ZA security suite v6.5 now. This beta review seems to be somewhat of a let down. I will certainly make sure your items of concern have been addressed before I buy.
