Like so many people, I've been blessed with a library of priceless family VHS tapes and I have a perfectly working Video CamCorder that uses mini tapes.

I would love to have the ability to convert my VHS tapes and my Camcorder tape to DVD. Once I choose an option, I would use it often. I have two VCRs and two DVD players.

I have been searching for options online and think I found something interesting. I would so appreciate any and all input on this idea.

    I ran across the:

Video Vault + DVDXPlatinum SuperPack at:

    http://www.trafficmatt.com/partners/vhs/videovault.htm

I read two #1 reviews on this software package but am open to any sugestions and/or information that would help me reach my goal.

I have a question though. Will I still need some type of plug in adapter to hook up my VCR and Camcorder to my PC? If so what product would be the best?

    Thanks for your valuable time

You are going to need hardware ... to which that product dose not supply .

Two methods available to you .

Dvd recorder supporting dv in (covers your vhs and camera) ... just make sure it supports dvd-r , dvd+r , and both dl formats are supported ... and it records in "video mode" ... less hassle when taking the disc to pc for re-editing later .

For the pc , the device's used :

Ieee / firewire card ... just for the camera .

And / or video capture device ... one supporting mce (current os type) for vcr capture .

Ieee / firewire would give better results between camera and pc ... as it would be slightly degraded should you need to use a video capture device instead .

    -------------------

In the end ... the dvd recorder would save you messing about with installing hardware in the pc ... and atleast if the dvd recorder bungs itself ... it's easy to carry in for repairs .

Thank you for your help. You have been most
kind I have heard that the DVD Recorder/VHS
Combos tend to be unreliable and problem prone.
There are so many out there. Please, can you
recommend one or more that is reliable and will
cover all I need to accomplish my goal?

I thank you again for your valuable time

If you value your time and want to enjoy the transfer process, then I would strongly suggest that you buy a DVD Recorder with a built in Hard Drive. It makes the whole process much more convenient, and also provides additional capturing, editing, authoring and copying capabilties.

Life is better when you focus on the signals instead of the noise.

visit SPAM and transfer your home video tapes to dvd. You can get a pretty good conversion at a reasonable price from a lot of places. But what are most of these companies lacking? Care and attention to detail! Other ways you get totally amateurish product done with domestic equipment.
