'Tis the season to be ripped off...

eBay is so full of fraud these days, I thought it best to post what just happened to me which may save you lots of money

I was just checking out a Canon gl-2 in which seemed a legit auction. The seller had several thousand feedbacks with a 99% positive. I scroll down the listings to another and wonder why they're aren't any bids...same cam, same extras...uh...same pics? Then the auction under that...identical...posted within a minute of each other. Some guy was copying auctions trying to pick up a little Christmas cash...or more like $2000. When I went back to look at the second phony, it magically disappeared much to my amazement.

I've found if you read between the lines, the seller will usually hang himself saying "I'm a videographer" = "cam's about shot" or "college student needs money" = "I broke it and when you find out, I'll have already spent your money. I'm a poor college student, remember?"

I may go for something "lightly used" without all the extras but just dropping the seller a email may reveal much more about the proposed sale. Also, make sure they have a return policy...many don't. Avoid "all sales final" like the plague because more than likely, somethings wrong with it and you just bought a broken camera.

I wish you luck...but I'm also considering a local semi-pro store which actually have guarantees.

Once again....you are not being "potentially ripped off" by Ebay...you are being ripped off by dirtball Ebay user. It's no different than expecting a real Rolex from the spam mails you get...all they are doing is preying on stupid people.
