  1. Hi,

I print DVD's on an Epson R300 using Epson Print CD, settings:

    CD/DVD Premium Surface
PhotoEnhance - Tone: Vivid, Effect: None.

Printing on these Ritek g05 silver DVD's:

I'm having problems with many of my printed DVD's sticking in all my 3 dvd players, it happens sometimes, and not others.
It gets stuck inside the DVD player when you open the drive to take it out.
(This is only a problem with my printed DVD's)

I really need some help with this, i've left the discs to dry for 48 hours and it still happens.

What can I do to sort this?

It seems that the heat in the player is melting the ink slightly so it sticks to the pressure pad that holds the disc down. You could try a different make of ink cartridges, try printing on matt white printable discs, don't print right up to the centre or buy a Canon iP series printer. I print up to the centre on white faced printables with a Canon iP3000 printer using Canon inks cartridges and have never had a sticky disc. They are dry as soon as they come out of the printer too.

I have printed 1000's of hub printables so there is absolutely no white showing with my R200 & R300 & never had a problem.
& i use the CSI on both of them with U.V. ink, with verbatim & prodisc, "white & silver" printing surface's, settings at "photo" "cd/dvd" settings.

Have you tried the standard cd/dvd setting without photo enhance ? maybe it's using too much ink when printing so it's not all being absorbed & just drying enough to seem dry but the heat in your players is softening it up

Are you applying and extra finish? I've seen this on discs that weren't completely dry, or where I'd applied too much clear coat to the disc. It could also have to do with the specific player and how much heat it generates at the drive: I have an old Panasonic that used to stick all the time - the newer ones don't appear to have the same issues; may even be the size of the pad inside the dvd loader???

I've heard reports of people getting good results using a finish spray of Krylon clear fixative. It seals the ink and provides a clean, hard surface for the drive pad. Just make sure you let it dry overnight before reading

I have used the kryoln in the past, and it worked great. I got lazy so I no longer print dvds, sharpie only now. Again only because I got lazy, not because printing or krylon problems...
