In AVID DVD by Sonic when I attempt to make a DVD Disc, the write speed in the dialog box defaults to Auto and won't let me change it. The write speed on the DVD-9 is 2.4X and I'm not sure, but I believe it's contributing to the problem when I burn the disc. I get audio pops and clicks, as well as distorted audio throughout the DVD.
I've sort of exhausted all options on what the problem can be. Since the file's audio sounds fine in the computer up until the DVD is burnt.
Help Please.

You are burning a DL disc. What brand disc are you using? I don't think that's the problem from what you are reporting, but any info helps. The burn speed may cause problems, but that's the fault of your software not setting the proper speed. And that wouldn't usually cause the type of problems you are reporting. I would use ImgBurn as it seems to work fairly well with DL media.
Is this a backup DVD or a new compilation? Playing the file in the computer may not tell you much. Players like VLC can play corrupted files with missing frames and you would probably not notice.
Since the problem seems to be with the audio, how did you convert it and what format is it? -
The disc brand I'm using is RiDATA Double layer DVD. The DVD is a new compilation, a feature project I've been working on for a while.
I converted this file from an OMFI Media File in AVID Express to an MPEG-2. I compressed the file in Sorenson Squeeze 4.5.
I compressed the audio appropriately I believe, the only thing I thought I might have done wrong was selected the wrong data rate for the audio. I sort of cancelled out that theory based on the idea that the data rate worked hand in hand with the correct video bitrate and the audio played fine in my computer.
