    Hi

    While I'm new to this, I do understand the mechanics of ripping, etc.

    What I'd also like to do is transfer the subtitles from a DVD to a SVCD so that they can be turned on or off with the player's remote control (in other words, I don't want to burn them into the actual video so that you get them like it or not).

    Can anyone offer any guidelines?

    yes use DVD2SVCD..has selectable subs and great audio qualtiyin in an all in one(but you need CCE SP 2.50)
